Web checkout fee calculator

Work out what moving part of your in-app revenue to web checkout is worth each year, with your own store fee and your own web checkout costs.

Updated

Set your monthly in-app revenue, how much of it you think players would buy on the web instead, the fee your app store takes, and what web checkout costs you. The calculator shows what you keep today, what you would keep with web checkout, and the difference over a year.

This is an estimate from your numbers, before our fee. Store rules on web purchases vary by platform and country, so only offer web checkout where they allow it.

How the numbers are worked out

The calculator moves the share you choose from the store to the web and leaves everything else alone:

  • Net today is your revenue after the store fee.
  • Net with web checkout is the part that stays in the store, after the store fee, plus the part that moves to the web, after your web checkout fees.
  • More per year is the difference, times twelve. It never goes below zero.

It's an estimate. It doesn't model players who buy less when they leave the game, or rules about where a store lets you link to a web purchase. Those depend on the store, the country and your game.

Where PowerUp fits

PowerUp's checkout runs through Stripe on web and desktop builds, and through the App Store and Google Play on phones. Every purchase lands in the same wallet, whichever way the player paid. See web checkout for Godot games for how it works.

Questions

Does the calculator use Apple's or Google's current fee table?

No. Every number is yours to set, because store fees depend on your program, your region and how the purchase happens. Many stores charge 15% under their small-business programs.

What does "web checkout fees" cover?

Card processing, plus tax handling if a merchant of record collects and pays sales tax and VAT for you. With Stripe Managed Payments, Stripe is that merchant of record.
